Description: The Simi Valley Days 5K & 10K will take place prior to the Simi Valley Days Parade on Saturday, September 11th. This course is flat and blazing fast! Both the 5k and 10k are along the Simi Valley Days parade route on Los Angeles Avenue. 10K starts at 8am, 5K at 8:15am. Races start at Royal Plaza Shopping Center near Royal and Thompson. Proceeds will be donated to the Simi Valley Days community fund to help local charities. The fall show is Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 11 and 12 at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza (880 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village). Over 170 vendors will be on hand with information on everything from kitchen and bath remodeling to interior decorating to landscaping, pools and spas. Description: ETI Corral 37 Presents the 6th Annual “Day of the Horse” on Saturday, September 11th starting at 10:00 a.m., Conejo Creek Equestrian Park, 1300 Avenida de Las Flores, Thousand Oaks, by the 23 freeway. FREE!! Most breeds will be represented with their owners explaining the whys and wherefores, and to answer as many questions as they can. Some of the featured events include: Drill Teams performing in full dress; cart driving exhibitions; the versatility of the Arabian horse and rider in native costume; various gaited horse demonstrations; a saddle-less/bridleless riding demonstration; trainers sharing their horsemanship tips; cowboys showing off roping skills; side-saddle riders; a hunter-jumper demonstration; Ride-On Therapeutic Horsemanship; a gymkhana exhibition; riders in medieval costumes; a horse shoeing demonstration; and much, more! There will be FREE carriage rides, and a variety of vendor booths, including a tack/saddle shop booth, veterinarians sharing their advice, and a face painting booth for all the kids! The younger children will have the opportunity to groom the mini horses and ponies. Pizza and drinks will be available for purchase, with the proceeds to be split between Ride-On Therapeutic Horsemanship and California Coastal Horse Rescue.
